PROTECTING OUR COMMUNITIES FROM BAIL REFORM

March 3, 2020

Over the last few months, Nassau COBA has been at the forefront of combating the so-called bail reform that is making our communities less safe. As you will see below, I have been speaking at local community forums and at the Nassau legislature in an effort to convince our elected officials to take our public safety seriously and amend this law. We are also using our podcast, the Nassau COBA Monthly to get the word out to our membership. Episodes of the podcast can be found below.

Nassau COBA Testifies on Bail Reform

The Nassau County Legislature recently held a "Special Public Safety Hearing on Bail Reform". The Nassau County Police Commissioner, DA's Office and Presidents of all Nassau's Law Enforcement Unions testified about everything that is wrong with these new laws and to further expose the dangers we all face as well as the hypocrisy of those who support these laws. Laws that were enacted blindly, hidden in the State Budget which prevented any public scrutiny or dissenting opinion on these very important Public Safety issues.

COBA has been at the forefront of this issue from the very beginning and we will continue to be the voice of our members and the voice of sanity in a State that has lost its mind. COBA has taken part in a series of discussions on this matter. Video from our discussion with the Carle Place Civic Association, as well as a discussion of Bail Reform on our podcast can be found on our YouTube Channel.
