Coba Alert

OM closure for 10/6/24

October 6, 2024

To all COBA members,

Due to an unforeseen staffing issue with CSEA Cooks, the Officer Mess Hall was not able to be staffed for the 0800-1600 as well at the 1600-2400 shifts on October 6, 2024.

Pursuant to Sec.14b of the Contract, the County shall pay the applicable (Meal Stipend) for the actual meals (FOOD) not provided to COBA Members.

0800-1600 shift: $15.00 Lunch

1600-2400 shift: $20.00 Dinner

Furthermore, in order to streamline this process, the Union and Administration has come to the agreement to utilize lineups in order to pay these monies. This is similar to how your holiday pay is entered for working a holiday.

This will eliminate the need for COBA members to fill out a separate Meal Stipend slip for each occurrence that effects them and will ensure COBA members receive their contractually entitled monies.

For all COBA members who worked the 0600-1400, 0800-1600 or any shift in between, including those who came in early for overtime, which will be reflected on the main line up, you will received an extra $15.00 for the FOOD not provided.

For any COBA members who worked 1400-2200, 1600-2400 or any shifts in between, including those who stayed later after their shift or came in early prior to their 0001-0800, you are entitled to $20.00 extra for the FOOD not provided.

All COBA members are still afforded their contractual meal break (TIME) of either 40,50 or 60 minutes depending on the post assigned, regardless of if the OM is staffed or not. At the time of this email, after consulting with both the Security Captain and Tour Commanders, all COBA members had received or were scheduled to receive their meal relief off their assigned post.
