On October 13, 2016 COBA President Brian Sullivan addressed the Nassau County Legislature following an almost three hour presentation by Acting Police Commissioner Thomas Krumpter and his request for a 50 million dollar increase in the Police Budget. The increase Krumpter testified is needed for additional training, technology and equipment. Including 80 Patrol vehicles, 60 unmarked vehicles, 22 Ambulances, 12 SUV's and 2 Helicopters. We commend Mr Krumpter in his effort to properly train and equip his Department and we hope the Police Department receives all the items requested to protect them while doing their Jobs.
Following Acting Police Commissioner Krumpter was Sheriff Sposato who testified that he is expected to come in four million dollars under Budget and is submitting a carbon copy of last years Budget. Taking no more than 5 minutes to present his Budget. Sheriff Sposato appeared unprepared or unwilling to answer questions from Legislators. Sheriff Sposato abrubtely left after questioning and before President Sullivan was given an opportunity to speak.
COBA President Brian Sullivan addressed the Legislature advocating on behalf of COBA Members need for essential equipment like vests, training beyond the state mandated minimum, and vehicles.
