Nassau Correction Supervisor Attacked/Slashed by Violent Predator NYS HALT Law to Blame

May 19, 2023

Dear COBA Members/Retirees;

See below a Press Release issued by COBA President Brian Sullivan detailing a violent incident resulting in injuries and a facial slash suffered by one of our Correction Corporals this past Sunday. This incident and injury is the direct result of New York State's HALT Law which prevents the segregation of violent predators in Correctional Facilities in New York.

Inmate Adel Hardwick (the perpetrator) is no stranger to the Nassau County Criminal Justice System. In 2020, he was indicted by a grand jury for allegedly raping three women in separate attacks on Long Island between 2015 and 2020.

In 2009, he was arrested and charged with the attempted rape of a homeless woman in Long Beach.
