It’s with deep regret COBA announces the untimely passing of Retired Correction Officer George Smith. Retired Correction Officer Smith was appointed to the Sheriffs Department on December 26, 1970 and retired on December 30, 2005 after 35 years of service. We ask you to please keep Retired Officer Smith’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Retired Correction Officer George Smith will be reposing on Friday May 31, 2024 at St. James Funeral Home, Inc Inc. located at 829 Middle Country Rd St. James, NY 11780 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 7:00pm-9:00pm. Prayer Service will be held at 8:00pm on Friday May 31, 2024 at St James Funeral Home Inc. Intermittent will be on June 1, 2024 at Pinelawn Memorial Park located at 2030 Wellwood Ave Farmingdale, NY 11735.
