Coba Alert

Correction Officer Civil Service Entrance Exam Scheduled For June 25th and 26th, 2022. Filing Date Extended to May 17th. Exam # 65-494

May 1, 2022

To All Correction Officers and Retirees:

An Open Competitive Entrance Exam for Nassau County Correction Officer has been scheduled for Saturday June 25th and Sunday June 26th, 2022.

This Exam was announced on April 21st, 2022 and filing for this Exam was originally scheduled to close at midnight on Wednesday May 11th, 2022.

COBA petitioned Nassau County HR and the Civil Service Commission to extend the filing deadline to ensure that proper notifications and recruitment efforts can be done. This including a Nassau County Law Enforcement and Military Career Fair being conducted at the David S. Mack Center for Training and Intelligence at 1 Law Enforcement Way in Garden City, on Saturday May 14th.

Through COBA's efforts and in cooperation with the County, the filing deadline has been extended to midnight, Tuesday, May 17th, 2022.

Additionally, this is the first time this exam is open to residents of Suffolk County and Queens County, due to a new Civil Service Law passed recently.

Notices for this exam are being posted on numerous social media platforms and Civil Service periodicals as well as being posted at all of our local colleges and universities.

I urge all Officers and Retirees to make your friends and family members aware of this upcoming Exam. We all know we have been suffering under a staffing crisis for far too long in this Dept. We need staff and we need to make sure that as many people know about this upcoming test as possible.

The only way we will ever turn this department around and put it back on track to be the professional organization we all know it can be, on numerous fronts, is by working together to make it happen.
