It is with great sadness that COBA reports the untimely passing of Retired Correction Officer James M. Brooks, father of Correction Officer Tiayia Brooks. Officer James M. Brooks was appointed to the Sheriff's Department on March 16, 2001 and retired on May 3, 2024.

Friday, October 4, 2024 10am-12pm at the Carl C. Burnett Funeral Home Inc. located at 456 South Franklin Street Hempstead, NY 11550. A Prayer Service will take place following visitation hours at 12pm with a graveside burial at Greenfield Cemetery located at

650 Nassau Road Uniondale NY 11553.
